Mini Kids Pocket Top – Crochet Pattern
Materials:
> U.S I/9 – 5.5mm Crochet Hook
> Stylecraft Special Aran / Any Worsted Weight Yarn – Colour A – Parchment – 428 yards
> Stylecraft Special Aran / Any Worsted Weight Yarn – Colour B – Pomegranate – 214 yards
> Darning Needle – To weave in ends
Finished Measurements Approx:
> Mini Kids – 1-2 years
> Width 15”
> Circumference 30”
> Length 14.5”
Gauge:
> 12.36 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm)
> 6.18 dc = 2 inches
Pattern
Make 2:
R1. Using Colour A yarn Ch49, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (48dc)
R2. Ch2 (counts as 1dc from here and throughout) 1dc in each st across, turn (48dc)
R3-R25. Ch2, 1dc in each st across, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (48dc)
Do not fasten off.
First Shoulder:
R26. Ch2, 1dc in next 13sts, turn (14dc)
R27. Ch2, 1dc in next 12sts, 1dc in top of turning ch (14dc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Second Shoulder:
R26. Locate the last st of row 26 of first shoulder, skip next 20sts, join yarn in next st, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in next 12sts, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (14dc)
R27. Ch2, 1dc in next 12sts, 1dc in top of turning ch (14dc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Pockets Make 2:
R1. Using Colour B yarn Ch11, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (10sc)
R2-R10. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in each st across, turn (10sc)
Fasten off leaving a long tail on both pockets to attach to top.
Joining Pockets to Top:
> Using the long tail from your pockets and a needle, seam pockets onto the top on all 3 sides of the square apart from the top side I placed mine so the top of the pockets were resting on row 9 of top and counted 8sts in from the side.
Weave in ends.
Joining Top Together:
> Lay both pieces flat on top of each other with wrong sides facing outwards.
> Seam up both shoulders using needle and colour A yarn. Fasten off and weave in ends.
> To seam sides together, use needle and yarn, leaving the top 8 rows unworked for armholes, seam downwards on both sides ( I used the mattress stitch to give more of a seamless finish )
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Neck:
R1. Join yarn to any corner stitch on neck, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in same st, work 59sc evenly around neck, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (60sc)
R2. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (60sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
