Mini Kids Granny Stripe Top – Crochet Pattern
Materials:
> U.S I/9 – 5.5mm Crochet Hook
> Stylecraft Special Aran / Any Worsted Weight Yarn – 428 yards
> Photographed in colour ‘Pomegranate’
> Darning Needle – To weave in ends
Pattern Specifications:
> Gauge – 12.36 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm) > 6.18 dc = 2 inches
> Size – Mini Kids – 1-2 Years
> Finished Dimensions – Width – 14.5 inches, Circumference – 29 inches, Length – 15 inches
Special Stitch Cluster:
> Work 3dc in space indicated
PATTERN
Make 2:
R1. Ch50, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch st across, turn 949sc)
R2. Ch2 (counts as 1dc from here and throughout) 1dc in same st as ch2 * Skip next 2sts, work 3dc in next st (cluster made) * Repeat across until last st, work 2dc in last st, turn (2dc at the very start of the row + 15 clusters + 2dc and the very end of the row)
R3. Ch2 * Work a cluster in each space across between clusters from previous row * Repeat until last space, work a cluster in last space, work 1dc in between the very last 2dc sts from previous row, turn (1dc at the very start of the row + 16 cluster + 1dc at the very end of the row)
R4. Ch2, 1dc in same st as ch2 * Work a cluster in each space between clusters from previous row * Repeat across until very last space, work 2dc in last space, turn (2dc at the very start of the row + 15 clusters + 2dc and the very end of the row)
R5-R26. Repeat rows 3 and 4 (on row 26 you should be repeating row 4)
Do not fasten off.
First Shoulder:
R27. Ch2, work 1 cluster in each of the next 3 spaces, 1dc in next space, turn (1dc at the very start of the row + 3 clusters + 1dc at the end of the row)
R28. Ch2, 1dc in same st as ch2, work 1 cluster in each of the next 2 spaces, work 2dc in between the last cluster and last dc from previous row, turn (2dc at the very start of the row + 2 clusters + 2dc at the end of the row)
R29. Ch2, work 1 cluster in next 3 spaces, work 1dc in between the very last 2dc from previous row (1dc at the very start of the row + 3 clusters + 1dc at the end of the row)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Second Shoulder:
R27. Locate the last st of row 27 of first shoulder, skip next 8 spaces, join yarn in next st, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1dc in same space, work 1 cluster in each of the next 3 spaces, 1dc in between the very last 2dc from previous row, turn (1dc at the very start of the row + 3 clusters + 1dc at the end of the row)
R28. Ch2, 1dc in same st as ch2, work 1 cluster in each of the next 2 spaces, work 2dc in the top of last dc from previous row, turn (2dc at the very start of the row + 2 clusters + 2dc at the end of the row)
R29. Ch2, work 1 cluster in next 3 spaces, work 1dc in between the very last 2dc from previous row (1dc at the very start of the row + 3 clusters + 1dc at the end of the row)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Joining:
> Lay both pieces flat on top of each other with wrong sides facing outwards.
> Seam up both shoulders using needle and yarn. Fasten off and weave in ends.
> To seam sides together, use needle and yarn, leaving the top 9 rows unworked for armholes, seam downwards on both sides ( I used the mattress stitch to give more of a seamless finish )
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Neck:
R1. Join yarn to any corner stitch on neck, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in same st, work 65sc evenly around neck, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (66sc)
R2-R3. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (66sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
