Mini Kids Sea Shells Top – Crochet Pattern
Materials and Tools:
> Stylecraft Special Aran / Any Worsted Weight Yarn – 428 yards
> Photographed in colour ‘Lavender’
> Darning Needle – To weave in ends
Finished Measurements Approx:
> Mini Kids 1-2 years
> Width 15.5”
> Circumference 31”
> Length 15”
Gauge:
> 12.36 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm)
> 6.18 dc = 2 inches
Pattern
Make 2:
R1. Ch52, 1sc in 4th ch from hook * Skip next 2 chains, work (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch, skip next 2 chains, work (1sc, ch3, 1sc) in next ch * Repeat across finishing with (1sc, ch1, 1hdc) in last ch, turn
R2. Ch3 (counts as 1dc) 2dc in first hdc st from previous row * Work (1sc, ch3, 1sc) in next ch2 space, work (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch3 space * Repeat across finishing with 3dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
R3. Ch3 (counts as 1hdc, ch1) 1sc in very first dc from previous row * Work (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch3 space, work (1sc, ch3, 1sc) in next ch2 space * Repeat across finishing with (1sc, ch1, 1hdc) in top of turning ch, turn
R4-R27. Repeat rows 2 and 3 (Row 27 should be a repeat of of row 3)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
> Lay both pieces flat on top of each other with wrong sides facing outwards.
> To seam up shoulders using needle and yarn, starting from outside stitch first working inwards towards neck, seam for 5 inches both sides. Fasten off and weave in ends.
> To seam sides together, use needle and yarn, leaving the top 9 rows unworked for armholes, seam downwards on both sides ( I used the mattress stitch to give more of a seamless finish )
Fasten off and weave in ends.
R1. With top right side facing, join yarn to bottom of arm hole, Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1hdc in same st, work 33hdc evenly around arm hole opening, join with a slip to beg dc (34hdc)
R2. Ch1 (does not count as a stitch) 1sc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (34sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat on other arm.
